Finding Another Reason #publicpolicytalks

Sometimes i wonder too why i continue to study, why i desired to know more about this subject.  I think as a civil servant, its very important to understand what we do, to know what are our power that we can use to protect the system, the society, and getting more welfare for as many people we can reach.  We cant denied there is so many dimensions and aspects will influence and maybe change our decision to do the job more, but at least, i really want to know how this things work, to look at my self and find a good reason to help people, with a long term plan, by building a good policy, good system.  Because as a civilian, sometimes i wonder why good things dont work, or the stability would turn into chaos.  At www.ox.ac.uk, they tell us about the foundation of policy making, that the policymakers who are not just skilled across a range of professional competencies, but also have a humane outlook and a moral compass. Foundations challenges you to think deeply to explore your own basic moral and political outlook, and reflect formally on the moral values and goals that do, and should, apply in public policy.

The politics of policy making.  The abilitiy to think politically is a critical skill for effective action in government.  The politics of policymaking considers how actors and institutions shape outcomes in domestic and international politics.  Understanding and navigating these dynamics is essential for the advocacy for, design of, and implementation of successful policies.

Evidence and public policy.  How do policymakers know whether their policies meet their intended objectives? Can they improve the way policies are implemented? Given limited government budgets, these question are increasingly at the heart of public policy.  The aim of the evidence and public policy module is to provide you with an understanding of how policymakers gather, assess and use evidence in practice.

Law and public policy.  Law provides a framework within which public policy is developed, shaped and implemented.  You will explore the ideas which underpin how legal systems work, and how law both constrains and can be used as a tool in the policy process.

By exploring the subjects, there is so many to learn, the multidimensional aspects of the policy, make us should read more and understand deeply before jumping into early conclusions.  Another aspects that makes me fall in love: how socials' is an art, there is no right or wrong, no black and white, its all the possibilty to reach the limit.  Its how we use the skills, and apply a good theory to the real world, to the people, by not losing the essence: do the job to getting more welfare, to people, to the environment, and to us, by a satisfaction of getting things done.
