Sometimes, dying in the routine or caught up yourself doing nothing matter is really frustrating, when you find yourself have no idea what you are gonna do next, how you want something, but dont have enough motivation to do it.  Because we are doing the everyday-life and just keep it without thinking anything.  And this is just the book you need.

At first, i know Gary from the instagram that people just talk about how great he are, then i open his instagram, watching his youtube and listen to his podcast.  Damn, yesss he is that good. lol.

The interesting point of his view, i think is about how he is telling the truth, about our circumstances now and not complaining about it, how he changes the perspective that tell you - you are consumed by the social media- things.  Cause YES! people are consumed by the social media now, when most motivators/articles said you should close the social media and be there in the present, he said NO. Just make a great content, create your truly self and persona out there so people can know more about you.  When most of the article said that you should separate yourself from the professional things and the personal things, he said, NO. These days, is the era of mostly people are in the social media, you cant hide yourself out there, there is no way people can be untouchable of their personal self.  Its just will make it harder.  And people can know if the persona you put in the social media is a faker or not- it will have no use if you just lying about who you are, looking so professional just for the idea about you want to be someone else, even when its not.  When some people said it will be great to focus and do one thing a moment, he said just DO BOTH all you passionate about.When you really like it, and want to do it, you will make time for everything you want of.  

Then in this book he mostly tell us about the effectiveness of social media, about how we under-appreciated the idea of - FREE platform (especially when the media sometimes tell us that we give too much data to that platform, he said that, its okay if people use your data, they just can give you ad, but its your FAULT if you eat the shit they give, lol), that we can use it too, make the benefit by put the great content or use the add to raising awareness about what we want to sell.  Hustling long enough so you can know about your craft, be the BEST person at the market, be unique so you can be the one people looking for the spesific-unique-things.  And be patience to just not expect for one big miracle to happen, keep the hustle, have a strategy, do many things you like and be good about it.

Beside the great book that have a good and briliant idea, Gary also have a routine/daily content he share for free! Thats exactly i need for my daily-basis-motivation for keep my self on fire to hustling and doing my things.  Well, its one of the mindset-changing book/content i read this year.  I hope i will practice and absorb it immediately and gonna keep me faster on the track for my next goals and dream! love it!

Komentar pertama untuk buku ini adalah: instagramable! hehe. Akhir-akhir ini, saya senang membeli buku puisi, selain karena saat ini sebagian besar buku lainnya yang saya beli adalah buku-buku terkait kuliah, buku puisi tidak membutuhkan waktu lama untuk diikuti, bisa dicomot kapan saja dari tumpukan buku dan langsung dibaca dengan kalimat-kalimat yang pendek dan mudah dicerna.  Terlebih untuk di'cekrek' kemudian di post ke instagram stories ketika lagi tidak ada kerjaan. Hahaha.  Buku ini punya semuanya! :) Plus, ukurannya kecil bisa dibawa ke cafe, sambil ngopi tanpa harus bawa tas yang besar. Untuk buku dengan puisi yang berisi bahasa inggris semua, buku ini mudah dipahami, awalnya saya hanya baca-baca sekilas saja, tapi semakin membuka halaman-halaman buku ini, kok rasanya, aduh, related- banget dengan kehidupan sehari-hari. Nuansa puisinya, saya kira, (atau sepemahaman saya) menggambarkan hari-hari seseorang yang ditinggalkan kekasihnya, dan melewatinya dengan sendu, kadang juga senang, sambil kadang-kadang terkenang akan kekasih yang meninggalkannya itu (sok tau) yah kira kira sehati bangetlah sama saya hahhaa.  Kadang dalam membaca buku, saya ada ngerasa ada yang ngerasa gak sreg gitu, tapi disini semua pusinya terjalin dengan baik, ditambah ilustrasi kecil-kecilnya yang imut dan ngegemesin. Pokoknya lucu deh, saya suka!

As the new subject of my semester, i really looking forward to understand some more things about the political economic's thing, as the main idea of this subject: how political's view could influence the policy in the economy, about how using the power and politics to get what government's and public sector wants for the economic growth?

Economics and Liberating Theory 
Political economist have always tried to situate the study of economics within the broader project of understanding. 'The liberating theory' attempts to transcend historical materialism that incorporates insights from feminism, anti-colonial, anti-racist movements, and anarchism, as well as from mainstream psychology, sociology and evolutionary biology.  
Throughout history people have create social institutions to help meet their most urgent needs and desires-feudalism, capitalism, centrally planned socialism. What is common to all human societies is the elaboration of social relationship for the joint indentification and pursuit of individual need fulfillment. The human capacity to act purposefully implies the need to exercise that capacity-to be concious: understand and situate themselves in their surroundings. 
The economy is not only sphere of social activity, in addition to creating economic institutions to organize our efforts to meet material needs and desires, people have organized community institutions for addresing our cultural and spiritual needs, intricate 'sex-gender' or 'kinship' systems for satisfying our sexual needs and discharging our parental functions, and elaborate political systems for mediating social conflicts and enforcing social decisions. So in addition to the economic sphere we have what we call a community sphere, a kinship sphere, and a political sphere as well. A monist paradigm presumes that one of the spheres always dominant in every society.

What should we demand from our economy?

A pareto optimal outcome is one where it is impossible to make anyone better off without making someone else worse off.  The usual way around  this problem is to broaden the notion of efficiency from Pareto improvements to changes where the benefits to some outweigh the costs to others.  This broader notion of efficiency is called the efficiency criterion and serves as the basis for cost-benefit analysis.  Simply put, the efficiency criterion says if the overall benefits to any and all people of doing something outweigh the overall costs to any and all people of doing it, it is 'efficient' to do it.  Whereas, if the overall costs to any and all the people outweigh the overall benefits to any and all people of doing something it is 'inefficient; to do it. 
Seven deadly sins of inefficiency: (fails to achieve a Pareto optimal outcome): 
1. It leaves productive resources idle.  
2. It uses inefficient technologies, that is, uses more of some input than necessary to get a given amount of output.  
3. It misallocates productive resources so that swapping inputs between two different production units would lead to increases in output in both. 
The consumption sector will be inefficient if there are undistributed or idle consumption goods, final goods are misdistributed so that two consumers could exchange goods and both be better off than under the original distribution.  And the production and consumption sectors will be inefficiency integrated with one another if : 1) Goods are misallocated between consumers and producers so its possible for them to swap goods and have the output of the producer rise and the satisfaction of the consumer increase as well, 2) Resources are misallocated to different industries so its possible to shift productive resources from one industry to another to produce a different mixture of outputs more to consumer's tastes.

There is two simple corn models presented here to make corn:
Labor intensive technique: 6 days of labor + 0 units of seed corn yields 1 unit of corn
Capital intensive technique : 1 day of labor + 1 unit of seed corn yields 2 units of corn
In this simple situation economy is more efficient the lower average number of days of work per unit of net corn produced. So we can measure the efficiency of the economy by the average number of days worked per unit of net corn produced. Efficiency also means minimizing the ratio of pain to gain, reduced to total number of days worked, or total days worked divided by total net corn production.

Political economist distinguish between outcome (does one person work more or less than another) and decision making process (who decides how the work will be done). In the simple corn model if I decide how I will go about my work, we say my work is self-managed, if someone else decides how I will go about my work, we say my labor is other-directed or alienated.


A market is a social institution in which participants can exchange a good or service with one another on terms they find mutually agreeable.  It is part of the institutional boundary of society located in the economic sphere of social life.  If a good is exchanged in a 'free' market, anyone can play the role of seller by agreeing to provide the good for a particular amount of money.  

Adam Smith noticed something strange but wonderful about free markets.  He saw competitive markets as a kind of beneficent, 'invisible hand' that guided 'the private interests and passions of men' in the direction 'which is most agreeable to the interest of the whole society'.

"Every individual necessarily labours to render the annual revenue of the society as great as he can.  He generally, indeed, neither intends to promote the public interest, nor knows how much he is promoting it.  He intends to only his own gain, and he is in this, as in many other cases, led by an invisible hand to promote an end which was no part of his intention.  Nor is it always the worse for the society that it was no part of it.  By pursuing his own interest he frequently promotes that of the society more effectually than when he really intends to promote it from their self-interest.  We address ourselves, not their humanity, but to their self-love, and never talk to them of our necessities, but of their advantages.  

Adam Smith's law of the market are basically simple, the show us the drive of individual self-interest is an environment of similarly motivated individuals will result in competition; and they further demonstrate how competition will result in the provision of those goods that society wants, in the quantities that society desires. 

The failure of markets even with Pareto-optimal results and income distribution was thought to be fair, the market would still fail if it supported an undemocratic structure of power (greed, opportunism, politacl passivity, and indifference toward others), the central idea is that our evaluation of markets and with the market failure concepts, must be expanded to include the effects of markets on both the structure of power and the proccess of human development. (Samuel Bowles, Jully 1991).

Markets and hierarchical decision making economize on the use of valuable but scarce human traits like 'feelings of solidarity with others, the ability to emphatize, the capacity for complex communication and collective decision making.  But more importantly, we must consider about the trust and participation across all.  Because markets bribe us with the lure of luxury beyond what others can have and beyond what we know we deserve.  Markets reward those who are the most efficient taking advantage of their fellow, and penalize those who insist, illogically, on pursuing the golden rule- do unto others as you would have them do unto you.  "Its really survival of the fittest here.  If you have a cutthroat heart, you can make it, if you are a good person, i dont think you can".

Awalnya tertarik membeli buku Aan Mansyur, penulis yang awalnya dikenal melalui akun twitternya @hurufkecil yang sepertinya kata-katanya mampu mengutarakan apa yang sepertinya ada, tapi tidak terkatakan.  Kemudian berakhir dengan membeli buku lainnya.  Kupikir mungkin untuk budget bulan depan aku harus menyisihkan untuk buku dengan tema tema lain.  No 4 dan 5 secara impulsif dibeli karena tergiur diskon, no 1 karena melihat trailer filmnya yang sepertinya menarik namun tidak akan kutonton di bioskop, mungkin akan kucari dvdnya. No 2 karena novel tentang Tuhan selalu menarik, terlebih nama pengarangnya familiar.

Aku ingin banyak membeli buku, meskipun kadang beberapa belum sempat kubaca, malas kubaca, bosan sebelum selesai kubaca ataupun terlalu tidak cocok selera.  Aku juga jadi merindukan jaman-jaman smp-sma ketika aku membaca buku-buku novel remaja dan cukup puas, setelah tamat kuliah, mungkin membaca memberiku pula banyak ekspektasi ketika membaca buku dan mulai pilih-pilih, pula menjadi malu apabila judul maupun cover yang dibeli sedikit norak dan shallow, inginnya buku yang keren, berat dan memiliki makna, padahal terkadang, aku hanya membaca buku karena ingin dihibur oleh kata-kata shallow, mudah dicerna dan simple. Entahlah, katanya membaca buku itu dinikmati saja, untuk membunuh waktu senggang, alih-alih terinspirasi untuk membuat maupun melakukan sesuatu yang lebih baik dari konten buku tersebut. *)

Recently get some money to buy some books, mostly i feel kinda flat and confused with my space time.  And somehow, i buy 4 english book, from Haruki Murakami and Desi Anwar, i still strugling to read it, but i dont know why i like it.  I just prefer a word in english if it turns to fiction.  I like how it feels to read something and feel strange of it.  (Second, i think i'm quite ambitious to make my self read it and really get what inside the book, lol). I hope i finish all of this! (this what ambitions sounds like!) :)

Di tengah bulan ramadhan ini, ada yang kurang rasanya jika tidak membaca buku-buku yang inspiratif.  Selain inspiratif secara religius, juga dibutuhkan buku-buku untuk mengembalikan semangat yang tadinya agak sedikit berkurang karena badan yang lemah berpuasa.  Salah satu jenis buku yang menarik buat saya adalah buku yang menceritakan tentang pengalaman, kalau tidak bisa dibilang autobiografi.  Sebuah buku yang menceritakan sisi-sisi kehidupan yang menarik dari seseorang.  Pengalaman adalah guru terbaik, ujar suatu kata bijak.  Namun terkadang kau tidak hidup cukup lama untuk merasakan semua pengalaman, untuk itu, kau juga perlu belajar dari pengalaman orang lain, bukan?

Buku ini menggali sisi-sisi yang menarik dari Amerika Serikat, tidak hanya kekaguman akan negara adidaya tersebut, tapi juga menggali akar-akar masalah yang sedang bergejolak di hadapi negara tersebut: Pengemis dan orang terlantar, trauma terorisme, tentang sistem edukasi di sekolah, penanaman nilai-nilai sosial budaya dan hal hal lainnya.  Penulis mengajak kita 'tinggal' di Amerika, melihat kegelisahan-kegelisahan yang dialaminya saat tinggal di Amerika melalui matanya sekalipun pembaca belum pernah menginjakkan kaki disana. Setidaknya, membaca buku ini masih belum membuat saya puas, untuk melihat segalanya dengan mata kepala sendiri suatu saat nanti, amin. :) Uniknya pemikiran-pemikiran penulis sama sekali tidak terlihat menggurui, seperti bercerita kepada seorang kawan lama sambil diajak berjalan-jalan melihat hal-hal remeh dan sederhana yang ditemukan di jalan tapi ternyata menarik untuk diulas ketika melihatnya dari perspektif yang berbeda.  Penggambaran pun ditambah dengan foto foto tempat maupun situasi yang diceritakan sehingga pembaca merasa mengalami sebuah pengalaman dan perjalanan yang nyata.  Hingga dapat dikatakan buku ini berisi informasi sekaligus opini personal yang ringan dengan kata-kata bijak yang dapat kita ambil manfaatnya sebagai ispirasi dan motivasi.

New Book : The Hunger Game by Suzanne Collins

its very rare for me to read a book and really have a big passion to finish it as soon as possible because interested as movie.  When i read this book, its really makes me feel i involved and be her.  Read the book give me a feeling like watching a real movie or event, makes me keep noisy when i read it :)

I'm in love with 'The Hunger Game' at first when i see the 'coming soon' trailer on xxi before i watch Mission Impossible : Ghost Protocol on last January.  Then i'm in love with Jennifer Lawrence, even i still dont read the book and dont know anything about the hunger game book.  Then i update a twitter status on my twitter account, @ok3astra and my father's friend @rianariyudha tell me he have that book.  I just say i may interested reading it but i dont really have a think that the book is really fun, i thought it could be boring book because most element of the story is fiction with a fighting action so it just can represent by watching the movie.  After a month and weeks, finally he borrowed me the book, The Hunger Game and the second book, Catching Fire.  After back to my dormitory i feel lazy to read it because mid term would held in two weeks but i read the first page and then really passionate to finish it until i sleep late at dawn :) I really love this book.

The hunger game, tell you a story about a smart and tough girl, Katniss Everdeen that always support her family.  She really love her daughter, Primrose and really take an act as a parent because her mother cant survive any longer after her father’s dead.  She lived in Panem, which called as District 12, mostly worker there is the miner.  She illegally hunt at the restricted forest with her childhood friend, Gale.  At their life, people at Panem and other 12 district, have to join a game that held by the powerful city there, Capitol, who dominated all the distribution of the district’s work.  At their game, live on television, they must gambling to be chosen, all the district’s people must involved there, start 14 years old until 18 years old.  


This is the first year of Primrose, the daughter of Katniss involve at this gambling, unfortunately, Primrose’s name has been choosen as the representative of district 12.  Katniss really upset and give herself to join this battle-to-death game.  With autodidact skills that she have from her father, the survival skills she have because her responsibility to protect her family. She have a good opportunity to raise her talent and survival skill in this game and get a right and smart mentor, Effie and Haymitch even Haymitch always sarcastic and get drunk at first, she also supported by the talented fashion-mentor, Cinna that could make a fantastic fashion and gown for her appearance in television.  The brutally things that she must face at the hunger game with all the setting, and her friendship with her challenger, Rue and her challenger from same district, Peeta makes the game at there be more dramatic because she finally have a choice : Kill or Killed.

The Labyrinth : The Review

Alice, is a volunteer who spent her summer at Pyreness, Sabarthes Mountain at archeology things.  Then she start her journey alone to a mysterious place where she found a ring with an ancient pattern she cant understand.  Then she found herself searching by mysterious people. 
Alais, the healer and herbalist that write a journal and be a secret-safer from the civil war.  The journal is written with symbols and diagrams that Alice can't really understand.  The journal of Alais actually keep a secret from the buried, and there are people want it and hunt Alice.    
Then a nightmare haunt Alice, she have a vision being Alais that haunted by something that want her book.  Both of them, in past or in the present is haunted by same nightmare.  About a destiny that would connect them, or even a reincarnation?
I like the twist plot. And give a nice story to read.  To fill the relax time at the night or afternoon.  But maybe i dont really like the oldies setting because its seems not clear for me (i dont have the imagination about it) So i just cant imagine another things. 
I'm not finish it yet now.  Maybe want to pending to next time i feel really bored.

Lets go to library !

Borrow 2 books for my assignment, but until now i only get two pages about poverty ! :(( . Maybe after today's pesiar i will be get another inspiration for doing my assignment.  Because we are getting closer to final exam so every subject give an assignment, but, to score for Prof. Syarief class that always give assignment and at this week he gave us three books for resume, make abstract and comment. #combo !!! :)



And everytime i borrow book i always borrow one book for killing time and keeping my spirit . :) I hope i will finish the book with the deadline ! Because we just get five days for borrow that. Lets read everyone!

my final semester assignment

The final test for this 4th semester would be held at 27 june! Its about one month again for many test like academics and samapta. Well i must prepare my self and doing the assignment to making paper about 'the strategy for alleviating poverty' for development's theory subject and free topic for "governance's law". Then at the breaktime for the class i borrow some books.! I hope i can finish reading it soon and finish the assignment. But the tempt to read 'bumi manusia' book really annoy me. Lol. Have a busy week everyone! :)

The government developed by history, started from the theory from France, Montesquie that concluded the power must related with human’s characteristic.  Human, assumed likes power, if use the power for their interest, and after they get power, would developed their power. From that characteristic Montesquie separated power, there are executives, legislative, and judicative. And each power used by different institution.

To operating the system of government, have two ways, parliamentary and presidential. At parliamentary, executive and legislative have a strong relation so executive just do all the policy from legislative? But at parliamentary, if had some different way from executive and legislative, legislative can’t do any interference and makes executive down until the era’s end.
At Trias Politica’s concept, designed for check and balances for controlling the government’s system, even sometimes make the government being labile when executives and legislatives have some different point of view.  Commonly, the government’s system developed by their coutry’s history.

The three differences of institution there are executives, as a implementator from what decided by legislative and formulate the policy.  Legislative, as a regulator’s making could use bicameral or unimeral. The bicameral’s system, adopted by England, Dutch and United States, to avoid making the policy’s in hurry, no more absolute power from parliament, and then judicative, that have power’s justice, assumed neutral from others, even practically, could interventioning by president that gift clemency and abolition.

At This Country, Indonesia, based by UUD NKRI 1945, country’s institution have four : 1. President, have the power to govern, 2. DPR, have the power to make regulation, 3. MA, have the judicial power, 4. MK have the judicial power. Beside that, there are another institution which is still a part of executive, legislative, or judicative there are BPK, have the adiministrative (inspectorate), Judicial’s Commision, Election’s Commision, and Central’s Bank.

UUD 1945 has changed, the matter is changed what called ‘the highest country’s instution’ to be ‘the high institution’, which is make the position balances, so could do the ‘check and balance’ s system, if they have some problem, so they could over that by constitutional court.




Hmm... Just try to write in English and love the concept, learning by doing.  And one four months again to finish this forth semester means, welcome the new fight of examination for this semester !!!

me and books

 
Since I was kid, I’m so in love with books ! When I still at elementary school and I have a bicycle, I save all my money to buy a crayon shinchan comic with Rp.10.000. So expensive when I’m at that age and its so hard to get that money. But I commited to buy it everytime the shop sells the new edition. And I, who still kids and so afraid to riding bicycle to Garuda Mitra that was far away from my house and must across the busy street.  But I go. And I love that books !
I think, my big passion for book start when I still 3 years old or more young from that age, when every night my father tell me a story before I go to bed.  The story of course have a moral story, but he make his own story so you can’t find it anywhere else. And every night, when I close my eyes to sleep, I start to have an imagination about the story and think about the next story. Then, my father always show me how books could help, he like books too. And he influenced me to love books too.
And I buy a novel last Sunday, pillow talk and writer vs editor, and rent to library two good books that related to my class. But, I still not finished it, sometimes I feel sleepy and lazy. Hmm. When I read book, I feel that I more productive and I can use my brain to think, not only let the brain not useful. LOL. And I when I feel so bored books can motivate me to do more. To achieve… more…

 Two books i rent from library. 
First book,i plan to finish it for 2 days for "Hukum Tata Negara : Hubungan Antar Lembaga Negara" from Rahimullah, SH. M.Si, with 227 pages. I think i need to read that for my "Hukum Tata Pemerintahan" class, and i have a new project, to resume what i read, and i hope at the next post i will give you my resume so i can study and  improve my skills to writing resume in English.:)

I Ordered My Wife From The Universe


Di tengah kepenatan mid semester, saya sempatkan membaca sebuah novel karangan Stanley Dirgapradja, yang ternyata lahir di Kalimantan Barat, Anjungan. Yah, buku yang okelah buat menghabiskan akhir pekan saya. Mengenai seorang lelaki gemuk yang kurang percaya diri ketika berhadapan dengan pacarnya yang cantik, padahal ia adalah orang yang mapan dari segi finansial hingga akhirnya dia memilih untuk lepas dari pacarnya ketika terbukti pacarnya berselingkuh. Ternyata hanyalah ketidakpercayadirian dari sang pacar yang malah juga merasa tidak pantas untuk bersama lelaki gemuk itu karena terlampau baik. Hingga akhirnya lelaki gemuk itu memilih kenalannya dari dunia maya yang duduk di kursi roda.

Cerita yang lumayan menghibur di tengah kepenatan mid yang akhirnya selesai hari ini namun masih dilanjutkan dengan 2 lembar soal take home exam.  Cerita itu membuat saya teringat dengan banyak kisah cinta yang tak terduga akhir-akhir ini. Memang kisah cinta itu, tidak sedikit yang tidak dramatis, bahkan jika dipikir ulang sudah seperti sinetron murahan yang tayang berulang-ulang dengan juara episode kesekian, tidak habis habis. Tapi kadang-kadang, itulah hidup. Yang membuatkan cinta selalu tidak pernah kehabisan cerita dan yang selalu menjadi bahan gosip mulai dari yang tua sampai yang muda.

Tapi satu pesan papa saya yang begitu melekat dalam kepala saya, yaitu cinta itu 99% adalah usaha. Bagaimana memperjuangkan cinta itu bertahan, bagaimana menghadapi permasalahan tentang perasaan, bagaimana menemukan titik temu, bagaimana membuat keinginan masing-masing tercapai, ego yang tersalurkan, tanpa harus ada yang terbebani maupun melukai diri sendiri. Cinta adalah... Keputusan... Keputusan untuk maju atau melepaskan diri. Keputusan untuk mempertahankannya atau menghancurkannya. Keputusan untuk tetap bersama dia yang sekarang atau keputusan untuk mencari yang lain. Keputusan untuk tetap mencintai dan berusaha mencintai atau menjadi bosan.

Semuanya adalah keputusan-keputusan kecil yang membentuk cinta dalam hidup kita. Memutuskan untuk memberi perhatiannya lebih atau harus menerima untuk ketidakpeduliannya, memutuskan untuk bersabar atau untuk ikut larut dalam pertengkaran yang akan menghancurkan hubungan, untuk berpikir dengan tenang atau dengan emosi.
